Trainer FAQ

How can I become a Cosmetology or Barbering Trainer?

Any cosmetology or barber can become a trainer as long as they have a valid Cosmetology or Barber license in the state of California. The salon where the apprentice will be training must also have a valid establishment license. Copies of both must be submitted with the application to the State Board of Cosmetology.

What responsibilities does a Cosmetology or Barbering trainer have?

Train the apprentice to be a productive and knowledgeable stylist or barber by teaching them the newest techniques and the latest styles.

How long will I have to train/coach my apprentice?

The apprentice must spend 32 to 42 hours a week in the salon or barber shop. The program takes approximately 20 to 24 months to complete.

What financial responsibility falls on the trainer?

This is a case by case basis pending on trainer and or establishment owner as well as terms of employment.

How many apprentices can I have at one time?

Up to two apprentices can be signed up under a single licensed cosmetologist or barber per establishment.

How can I find an apprentice if I am interested in becoming a trainer?

A trainer can look independently for an apprentice or call the program sponsor for any potential recruits.

Testimonials

Check out what some of our associates have to say about our program

As a director and council member of the Los Angeles Apprenticeship Council and the Director of Educational Operations for the 28 Carlton Hair International Salons, it has been my pleasure to work very closely with Dana Rogalski. During the past several years I have seen Dana exhibit many of the attributes that have grown the LACCAC to become the largest Cosmetology Apprenticeship program in California with Dana capably serving as the Program Administrator over the 300+ Apprentices in the program. Dana's position involves working with various State and local government and educational agencies. Dana has always displayed the highest degree of professionalism in his administration of the program.

I have known Dana Rogalski for a few years. During this time Mr. Rogalski has served as an Administrator for the Cosmetology Unilateral Apprenticeship Committee serving over 300 apprentices. Although during this time the Apprenticeship Committee has gone through many changes, Dana has always remained professional and cooperative and a pleasure to work with.
